American Graffiti (1973) This classic move focuses on a single night in the early Sixties, the hopeful future of the main characters is followed by the events which occur. Steve (Ron Howard), and Curt (Richard Dreyfuss) will be leaving for college the very next day, the build up of years of hard work. Finally they'll be able to leave their small hometown and "spread their wings", experiencing life in ways they never have. Curt is unattached to anyone, but Steve will be leaving behind his longtime girlfriend Laurie (Cindy Williams), who happens to be Curt's sister. Also remaining at home are Terry (Charles Martin Smith), a fumbling nerd, and John (Paul Le Mat), an older kid with "the fastest car in the valley". The two main things that kid's focused on in 1962, it was cars and music. Everyone who's anyone cruises the strip in their shiny automobiles and while they're doing that they're listening to Wolfman Jack on the radio. Music is an integral part of this group, defining its moods, fears, desires and feeding from the same emotions. Curt, a scholarship winner, is filled with doubt regarding his future. Everything that he's ever done has been aimed at college, yet now the moment is upon him Curt wonders if instead he should take time off. Favorite Painting by Picasso

Have you ever gone to the museum and glanced at paintings but had to do a double take because a painting grabbed your attention so strongly? This is what happened to me when I saw the painting by Pablo Picasso entitled Mother and Child 1901. This painting was done during what was called the Blue Period. â€Å"Picasso Blue Period was in 1900 and ended in 1904. † (unknown, Pablo Picasso Blue Period 1901-1904, 2009) All of his paintings during this period were created in shades of blue and blue-green with other colors occasionally. Picasso had many paintings that had the same title UT in different time periods.Paintings by Picasso brought out warm and loving feelings in my heart. This one particular had me to think of the Joys of being a mother. I chose this painting by Picasso because it is warm and loving. You can see and feel how much the mother and child loved and cared for each other by their embrace. The mother clothed in a dark blue wrap that covers her head and continues around her body; has her right hand softly touching the back of her child's head. She is delicately bending down towards the child as she kisses him/her on the ordered. It is hard to tell if the child is a boy or girl.The child is in a light blue gown with matching slippers. His/her head is tilted upward to welcome the kiss from his/ her mother. It appears that the child has brought the mother a piece of fruit. Based on the colors of orange and pale yellow, it could possibly be an orange, mango or peach. The mother has a basket next to the black rocking chair she is sitting in. There is a white cloth in the basket along with some thread and scissors. It looks like the child brought the fruit while the mother was sewing. The child may have wanted his/ her mother to take a break and eat something.When I first saw this painting, I thought of Mary and Jesus. It evoked feelings in me of warmth, love and pure Joy. As I look at the way the mother expresses the love for her child, I can put myself in her place and feel how much she loves her child. I can feel my hand embracing the soft hair on the child's head and the soft kiss being placed on his/her forehead. To me the blue color of her wrap evokes the feeling of comfort. I can also feel the child's heart being warmed from the kiss he/she receives room the mother. The mother has her eyes closed as she kisses the child on his/her forehead.I can see that the kiss is a result of the fruit that the child has brought to her. In this painting it appears that the child is in his/her night clothing and is preparing for bed as the mother is busy sewing a piece of clothing in the basket. I can feel that this special moment between mother and child is a soft and loving moment. Pablo Picasso has many paintings that have the women seem to have a religious resemblance to Mary and the child possibly to Jesus. I can see that Picasso held elision as an important part of most of his paintings.I felt that Picasso viewed this painting as one of love from a mother to a child and vice versa. He painted the love of them as beautiful and distinctively warmly. I love how the child shows that he/she loves the attention his/her mother is giving and love they express between them. If I was a mother and alive in Picasso time, I would have asked him to paint a portrait of me and my children. Perhaps I will come across a painting from this century that resembles Picasso and it will make me feel warm and full of love as well.

The American dream is based on living well, and earning money. As the administration of the nursing home, I am going to make sure that this transition happens as smoothly as possible. The patients that have decided to stay must try their hardest to adhere to the new policies that have been set. The patients that have decided to go somewhere else will very greatly missed. The patients who cannot communicate their decision for one reason or another will be placed where the staff and I see fit, whether it be in our facility or somewhere else. When this happens they may not want to listen to or respond to their doctors. Face to face communication is good too because you can ask questions then and there, and receive advice from your physician without having to wait too long. Mail can be very annoying because it can take days or weeks to reach its destination and more days or weeks to receive a response. The only good thing about mail would be that you will have documentation of your physician’s opinions and test results. Traditional communication methods have been around for a long time but times are changing and these types of communication are becoming few and far between. Electronic communication seems to be where most people end up communication, even to our doctors and other health care officials. We call, email, and even text to tell doctors and nurses our health care problems before we even consider actually going to a doctor’s office and speaking to the doctor in person. I thought that the Bluest Eye was a beautiful, informative and expressive performance. I went in with an open mind because I didn’t know what to expect. After reading some Toni Morrison’s books which are filled with a imagery and surprises, I was very excited to see a theatrical performance based on one of her books. I appreciated how raw and deep this performance was. History always repeats itself, and I really liked how they made that prevalent by including modern day issues. It touched upon a lot of racial inequality such as the Black Lives Matter protests and how white privilege is prevalent. I also appreciated the all black cast because they don’t get much recognition in theatre and media today. An all black cast was necessary in order to effectively uncover the truth about racism and colorism, which still exists in our world today. I never realized how important theatrical elements were for a play until I took a theatre class for the first time. It was great to apply all the knowledge I’ve learned in the classroom and examine them in theatrical performances such as the Bluest Eye. Academic Honesty Essay As a kind of introduction, we would like to say that almost every person at least once has been thinking what honesty is. We are not an exception to the rule. It might seem to be a very simple and understandable notion but when you need to define it some questions appear. Not having found out the answer, we turned for help to good and well-known to everyone friend – the Internet. When you google something like  «What does honesty mean?  », search system gives you a lot of different definitions of honesty, so you even don’t know at which one to look. The one definition which I like the most explains this notion as follows: honesty is a character trait which is used to describe a human who never lies and cheat. In this honesty essay, we would like to share our humble opinion concerning honesty with you. First of all, we would like you to answer one question – how often do you tell a lie? It is clear that each person will have their unique response: somebody cheats occasionally, somebody always tries to tell only the truth, and for another one, it is quite unacceptable to lie. The one thing we are pretty sure about is the fact that no person has never ever lied. No doubts, even the most honest and kind person has not told the truth at least once.  «But how it can be possible? » you may ask. There is a very simple explanation of this. Being honest is not always such an easy task. We realize well that our words, no matter how truthful they are, may hurt a person who we say them to. All of us have a people in our life that we love and respect. So we are ready to do everything possible to protect them from any kind of negative emotions. This is the moment when such a notion as  «a white lie » comes. It means that you dont tell the truth or tell not the whole story in orde r not to hurt someone’s feelings and to avoid making someone suffers. When someone tells a white lie, they have the only good intention, don’t they? However, lets seek help from literature to find out is it a really good way of doing? There are quite a lot of examples of white lies in literature, but we want to get you familiarized with one from the play At the bottom which was written by Maxim Gorky. One of the main characters, Luka, often tells white lies. He meets Actor, who depends enormously on alcohol. Luka gives him false hope and assures him that he can easily cure himself. Obviously, he has no bad intentions at all, but his piece of advice hasn’t helped at all. Moreover, it has made the thighs even worth: at the end of the play; Actor commits a suicide. That’s why I am of the opinion that the truth is always the better way to go. In addition, we shouldn’t forget the fact that one lie turns into all these other lies. Not being honesty can give some temporary result but in the end, it will also make everything more difficult. Despite the fact that honesty may be harmful sometimes, there are a lot of advantages we can mention to support the idea of telling the truth. Firstly, it is known that we should treat others as we would like them to treat us. We are pretty sure that nobody likes to be deceived. It is a very unpleasant feeling. Secondly, the truth always catches you even when you don’t expect it. So if you don’t want to disappoint somebody, it is better, to tell the truth. Thirdly, we must learn to admit when we are wrong. It is the first step on the way to improving. That’s why we should tell the truth however sad it is, draw conclusions and go on.   Finally, if we really want to have a lot of friends and be loved and respected by other members of society, we cant pretend or lie. If we are honest, other people will trust us. Needless to say that nowadays there is a huge amount of examples of lies. It is everywhere: from harmless cheating during the exam to complex financial frauds. Perhaps that’s why a lot of people, especially persons who have been deceived, are convinced that such notion as honesty doesn’t exist in the reality of modern society. As for me, I believe in honesty or just want to. Anyway, I think that it is one of the things that makes everything still working. If everyone lies, we will have been in total chaos. The importance of honesty can hardly be overestimated. It gets people to bring out their true nature. It seems to me that honesty is one of the main qualities which is included in the list of the attributes that every high-minded person must have. When everyone starts telling only the truth there are can no longer be some misunderstandings and insults. Nobody says that to earn the trust is an easy task but it is worth all your efforts. Having been trusted, you can be sure that you will never remain alone in the difficult situation. That is just what people all over the world need – honesty. Maybe if all of us are honest, there will be fewer wars, conflicts and more mutual understanding and trust. In conclusion, we would like to say that we should never forget the true meaning of honesty. It is one of the things that make us who we are – human. It is very important to remain honest, primarily with ourselves. Of course, we can lie to somebody, but you can not run away from yourself. So we strongly recommend you to think twice before telling a lie.
